A few months ago, Mid America introduced what they called a "Performance Hood Seal". It's simply a gasket designed to go at the leading edge off the hood. It's purpose is to seal out dust and reduce drag. Everyone went nuts and there was a waiting list to get them. After the hype died down, I figured that I didn't have much to loose for $20.
It's a very basic product. Just think weather-stripping with an adhesive backing. Make sure you clean the paint very well at the very front of the engine compartment before installing. The adhesive is kind of weak so you'll need to hold the whole thing in place for a few minutes. The Hood Seal mounts down onto the flat surface at the very front of the engine compartment. Once it's in place, close the hood and the pressure will do the rest.
I don't know about performance but I have noticed that the engine compartment stays cleaner since I installed
the Hood Seal. Considering how easy it is to install, it's worth it just for that.
